The YMCA hosts various fitness, swimming and sport challenges throughout the year to motivate our community. Check out what we have to offer. Challenges motivate and inspire, and also help you stay accountable so you can become a better version of yourself!
Christmas Swim Challenges
Christmas Swim Challenge:
Stay in shape with a holiday swim challenge. The challenge is to swim 24 lengths on December 1st, 23 lengths on December 2nd, and so on. On December 24th you will have one length to swim. If you swim more than the required lengths on a certain date, you can bank the extra lengths! All swimmers that complete the challenge will receive a festive shirt.

Clarion County 100 Mile Club Swim Challenge
Clarion County – 100 Mile Club Swim Challenge
We’re excited to highlight our swimmers who go to the great lengths in 2026! We will be recognizing swimmers who swim 100 or more miles in the 2026 calendar year. Those who achieve the goals will receive custom prizes and their name listed on the Wall of Fame for 12 months.
One mile = Sixty-six lengths. One Length = One 25-yard swim across our pool.
You must be a Clarion County YMCA member to join.
When: January 1st, 2026 – December 31st, 2026

Cost for members & non-members:

Pittsburgh 3 Rivers Swim Challenge
The Pittsburgh Three Rivers Swim Challenge invites members to take on an exciting fitness goal – swimming 30 kilometers (approximately 18.6 miles) between January 1st and February 28th in the safety and comfort of the Oil City YMCA pool.
Inspired by the iconic confluence of Pittsburgh’s three rivers, this challenge encourages participants to push personal limits, improve endurance, and stay active through the winter months. Whether you are swimming a few laps a day or logging big distances each week, every stroke moves you closer to your goal and builds strength, confidence, and pride in your accomplishments.
This program promotes healthy habits, goal-setting, and community support, allowing swimmers of all levels to experience the rewards of consistency and perseverance. The Pittsburgh Three Rivers Challenge embodies the YMCA’s mission to strengthen spirit, mind, and body – One lap at a time. Participants that complete the challenge will receive a commemorative t-shirt.

Santa Splash Challenge
Gain confidence in swimming. Swim the number of lengths of the pool to match the date. December 1st swim 1 length. December 2nd swim 2 lengths. By December 24th swim 24 lengths for a grand total of 300 lengths or 5.54 miles. Completion of the challenge recognized with a festive themed prize!

Toddler swim and story time
Toddler Swim & Story Time
The Toddler Swim & Story Time program at the Oil City YMCA combines the magic of stories with the joy of swimming! Designed for children ages 6 months to 5 years, this program features an age-appropriate story shared by our local children’s librarian, followed by open swim time for families to explore the water together. Each session encourages imagination, movement, and parent–child bonding in a safe, supportive environment. It is the perfect way to build early literacy skills, water confidence, and happy memories — all while strengthening connections within our community.
