The April Fools Swim Challenge at the Oil City YMCA is designed to turn consistency into confidence. By encouraging members to swim a small, achievable distance over the course of the month, this challenge promotes healthy habits, builds endurance, and helps participants feel successful in the water. Whether you’re a seasoned swimmer or just getting started, this challenge proves that a little effort each week can lead to big wins — and that staying active can be fun.

Don’t be fooled — this swim challenge is easier than you think! Participants are challenged to swim just 1 mile total for the entire month of April. That’s about 66 laps over 30 days, or 2–3 laps per day — totally doable for swimmers of all levels.

Swim at your own pace, on your own schedule, during open swim or lap swim times. Track your progress throughout the month and celebrate your accomplishment at the finish.

This challenge is about showing up, moving your body, and having fun in the water — not speed or competition.

 Complete the challenge and earn bragging rights… and a little April Fools pride!

Clarion County – 100 Mile Club Swim Challenge

We’re excited to highlight our swimmers who go to the great lengths in 2026! We will be recognizing swimmers who swim 100 or more miles in the 2026 calendar year. Those who achieve the goals will receive custom prizes and their name listed on the Wall of Fame for 12 months.

One mile = Sixty-six lengths. One Length = One 25-yard swim across our pool.

You must be a Clarion County YMCA member to join.

When: January 1^st, 2026 – December 31^st, 2026

Get Moving in March!

Meet a personalized movement goal in the comfort of the water. Write the number of lengths you swam/walked in the pool during March. Turn a completed tracker sheet in at the end of the month. The member with the furthest distance will win an additional prize!

Little Explorers

The Little Explorer program at the Oil City YMCA combines the magic of movement with the joy of swimming! Designed for children ages 6 months to 5 years, this program features an age-appropriate 30-minute activity on land, followed by a me and my shadow style swim lesson. Each session encourages imagination, movement, and parent–child bonding in a safe, supportive environment. It is the perfect way to build early motor skills, water confidence, and happy memories — all while strengthening connections within our community.

 WHEN:  Class runs monthly beginning in March and is held on Fridays from 10:30-11:30

First Friday is Story with Annie and swim lesson

Second Friday is gym time and swim lesson

Third Friday is a craft and swim lesson

Fourth Friday is dance and swim lesson
