The YMCA hosts various fitness, swimming and sport challenges throughout the year to motivate our community. Check out what we have to offer. Challenges motivate and inspire, and also help you stay accountable so you can become a better version of yourself!
Christmas Swim Challenge
Stay in shape with a holiday swim challenge. The challenge is to swim 24 lengths on December 1st, 23 lengths on December 2nd, and so on. On December 24th you will have one length to swim. If you swim more than the required lengths on a certain date, you can bank the extra lengths! All swimmers that complete the challenge will receive a festive shirt.

Christmas Swim Challenge:
Stay in shape with a holiday swim challenge. The challenge is to swim 24 lengths on December 1st, 23 lengths on December 2nd, and so on. On December 24th you will have one length to swim. We’re excited to highlight our swimmers who go to the great lengths in 2024! New for 2024, we will be recognizing swimmers who achieve 25, 50, and 100 miles of lap swimming. Those who achieve the goals will receive custom prizes and their name listed on the Wall of Fame for 12 months.

Triple Crown Swim Challenge
The Triple Crown of Open Water Swimming is a marathon swimming challenge consisting of three historically important swims:
- The English Channel, (21 mi) between France and England
1.Swim 21 miles from January 1- February 28, 2025.
2. The Catalina Channel, (20.2 mi) between Catalina Island and the California mainland
1. Swim 20.2 miles between May 1 and June 30, 2025.
3. The 20 Bridges Swim (formerly known as Manhattan Island Swim), (30.1 mi) circumnavigation of Manhattan Island, New York City.
1. Swim 30.1 miles between August 1 and October 31, 2025.
As of December 2023, 331 swimmers had earned this distinction! Will you join this number? If you swim all 3 challenges you will earn a Triple Crown Medal and a t-shirt from each of the individual challenges.
