Trainings and Certifications
The YMCA offers different trainings and certifications. These certifications include Lifeguarding and CPR. Check back to see what classes are being offered.
Lifeguarding Certification
American Red Cross Lifeguarding Class:
Through videos, group discussion, and hands-on practice, you’ll learn teamwork, rescue and surveillance skills, First Aid, CPR/ AED, plus more to work as a lifeguard.
When: Online portion is October 5-9, 2026
In-person skills October 10 & 11th from 9-5pm
Location: the in-person portion is held at the Oil City YMCA
Ages: 15-100
Cost: Member are $200/ Non-members are $225/ $50 with a working contract
Register by October 2, 2026. Registration is limited to 10 people.
Must pass a prerequisite test

This class is for current American Red Cross Lifeguards or Lifeguards that have expired within 30 days of the class completing.
Online portion is October 5-9, 2026
In-person skills October 11th from 9-5pm

Cost: Members are $75/ Non-Members are $100
